Onion Tops

When I think of "Russian" this is what I think of along with fur hats, nesting dolls, and caviar:

Cathedrals such as St. Basil's in Moscow (pictured above) complete with fun onion-shaped dome tops.

We saw so many beautiful cathedrals when in Ukraine.  The main religion there is Russian Orthodox.  This post won't be about that religion because I do not know much about it.  This post is more of an appreciation of the architecture and detail of these cathedrals in photographs.

St. Michael's in Kiev

St. Andrew's in Kiev

Picture of a postcard.  :-)  It looks legit though!

What beautiful color!

These next two are churches that I saw in smaller villages:

I borrowed these images  from Wes Force.  He played around some with the graphics.
Check out theses cool before & after shots!

Pretty cool, huh?

  1. Absoloutely beautiful photos!!! We have some calendars here with old old Russian and Armenian churches. Some of these churches have even been around since BEFORE Jesus...it's crazy to think of something standing that long!!
Anyway, beautiful, beautiful pics! Love them!
